Board mandates
Responsibility over time.
I selectively accept board mandates where my experience and perspective can make a meaningful contribution to the institution.
A board mandate is not an advisory engagement. It means contributing judgement from within the governing body and carrying the responsibilities that come with it.
As a board member
What I bring
I am particularly interested in organisations where the board engages seriously with strategic direction, institutional development, governance and long-term responsibility.
As a board member, I bring the perspectives of a lawyer, foundation CEO and fellow board member.
I value rigorous preparation, independent thinking and constructive challenge, particularly when decisions involve competing considerations and no obvious answer.
I am most interested in mandates where the board is expected to contribute actively to the institution's development rather than provide oversight in name only.
Compensation for board mandates is agreed individually. I accept a small number of mandates, so I consider each enquiry carefully.
Discuss a board mandate
A short description of the organisation and the role is enough to begin. I will reply personally.

All enquiries are treated personally and with discretion.
